Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth announced today that the team has re-signed defenseman Chris O'Dougherty through the 2013 season, pending league approval.
O'Dougherty has become entrenched in the Western Washington lacrosse community as he enters his third season with the Stealth.
O'Dougherty, 24, was drafted by the Stealth in the sixth round of the 2009 NLL Entry Draft.
The former Rutgers University standout spent the majority of the 2010 season on the Stealth practice roster, playing in two regular season games.
In 2011, the hard-nosed right-hander became a staple on the Stealth's defensive unit, appearing in 14 regular season games and all three postseason contests.
He finished the regular season with one goal, one assist and 26 loose balls.
"Chris has really turned into a great asset for us, both on and off the floor," said Stealth Head Coach Chris Hall.
"He's a fine defender in this league and he works his butt off every shift.
He's done everything we've asked of him and we couldn't be more pleased with the progress he's made in just a few seasons playing box lacrosse.
He's not only a great player, but also a tremendous person and representative for the Stealth to have in the community."
O'Dougherty has become a local fan favorite on the Stealth roster since relocating to the Puget Sound region from his hometown in New Jersey.
For the past two seasons, he has been an assistant coach for the Bellevue Lacrosse Club, helping to lead the team to a state championship in 2010.
O'Dougherty has also served as an instructor at the Stealth Lacrosse Academy and for the Sticks-2-Schools program.
O'Dougherty and the rest of the Stealth will begin preparation for the 2012 season in training camp later this fall.
The 2012 regular season schedule begins in January and runs through April with playoffs in May.
Stealth season tickets start at just $99 and are on sale now.
