Washington Stealth: "It's Like Hockey...With Balls"

Everett, Wash. - The Washington Stealth today announced the launch of it's new marketing campaign, "It's Like Hockey... With Balls", for the 2013 season. The campaign is designed to give new fans an understanding of what professional box lacrosse is and illustrate the hard-nosed style of play embodied by the Stealth.

"As we continue to educate fans on what professional box lacrosse is, we needed to develop a campaign that described our product in a single sentence," said Stealth Vice President of Sales and Marketing Cory Howerton. "Our sport is most commonly compared to hockey and it is played with an edge. The "Hockey with Balls" campaign illustrates that and allows our fans to have a bit of fun with it, too."

"Hockey With Balls" is a fully integrated marketing campaign developed in house and will be activated through radio, television, print and online over the course of the year. The campaign was officially launched today through the team's digital assets including social media sites.

In addition to the marketing elements, the "Hockey with Balls" campaign will also feature a special ticketing program for fans. For just $49.99, fans will receive two "Hockey with Balls" t-shirts and two tickets to the 2013 Stealth season opener on January 5 at the Comcast Arena at Everett. Fans that purchase the ticket package will be seated in the special "#WITHBALLS" section, located near the Ice Box arena bar. Social media users will also get the opportunity to get involved with the campaign, as Twitter contests utilizing the hashtag "#WITHBALLS" will be held throughout the 2013 season. Users will be able to win exclusive "Hockey with Balls" merchandise and Stealth fan experiences all season long.

"Social media allows fans the opportunity to interact with their favorite teams in ways they have never been able to before," said Howerton. "By utilizing these important platforms, we give our fans a voice and create brand ambassadors, and through innovative and edgy promotions and campaigns, we hope fans for life."
