Washington Glory's Sara Larquier Hosts Catching Clinic

Learn how to improve your catching skills by attending a Catcher's Clinic with Washington Glory standout and former UVA softball star Sara Larquier.

Sara is an All-American and while at the University of Virginia, she was named 2005 ACC Player of the Year, and, she broke numerous records at Virginia and in the ACC.

Take advantage of this special opportunity to learn drills and techniques used at the professional level. The clinic will cover a wide variety of targeted skills including footwork, blocking, framing, throwing to bases, conditioning techniques, and the importance of being a leader behind the plate.

When:

Tuesday, November 27 in Ashburn, VA from 6pm-7:30pm

Friday, November 30 in Fairfax, VA from 4:30-6pm

Ages: 12-18

Note: this clinic is not designed for beginners; catching experience is recommended

Where:

Ashburn Shooting Stars indoor facility near Dulles Town Center Mall

Vienna Stars indoor facility in Fairfax, VA (Pickett Rd near Fairfax Ice Arena)

Cost: $50

Note -- All catchers must have full protective catcher's gear

Both the Ashburn & Fairfax clinics will be limited to the first 10 registrants at each location in order to maintain a high level of instruction.

Participants will also be eligible to receive a $25 discount to our upcoming Catching Skills Course listed below. We recommend attending the Catcher's Clinic first, and then joining the Catching Skills Course to work on each skill set more specifically.

Catching Skills Course

The Catching Skills Course is designed to break down and focus on the specific areas of catching. Each week we will focus on a different topic and include ways to improve and strengthen each skill. Although not required, we recommend attending the Catching Clinic first, and then joining the Catching Skills Course to continue developing the specific skills.

Dates & Times:

Dec 4, 11, 13 & 16 in Ashburn, VA from 6pm-7pm

Dec 7, 14, 28 & Jan 4 in Fairfax, VA from 5pm-6pm

Ages: 12-18

Note: this clinic is not designed for beginners; catching experience is recommended

Where:

Ashburn Shooting Stars indoor facility near Dulles Town Center Mall

Vienna Stars indoor facility in Fairfax, VA (Pickett Rd near Fairfax Ice Arena)

Cost: $150 for all 4 weeks or $125 if you attend either the Nov 27 or Nov 30 Catching Clinic

Note -- All catchers must have full protective catcher's gear

Both the Ashburn & Fairfax courses will be limited to the first 10 registrants at each location in order to maintain a high level of instruction.

Clinic 1 -- Role of the catcher, presence & leadership skills, dealing with umpires, setting up and framing.

Clinic 2 -- Blocking; correct techniques and drills. Improving strength and flexibility for catching.

Clinic 3 -- Footwork and throwing to bases

Clinic 4 -- Covering bunts, pitchouts and intentional walks, pop-time

Diamond Elite Softball Training program is currently scheduling individual and group instruction for Winter 2007/2008. Our training is available throughout Loudoun & Fairfax counties, or can be arranged at your facility.

Our 8,800 square foot training facility will be located in Sterling/Dulles. Planned opening is early January 2008. Now accepting bookings for winter team practices. More exciting news on this next week!
