magicJack News Release

Washington Freedom heads to New Jersey to face Sky Blue FC for the first time in the 2010 season tomorrow Wednesday, July 7 (7 p.m. ET), just three days after their July 4th home game. When they last met in 2009, Sky Blue FC ended Freedom's season with a 2-1 loss. The week before, Freedom had dominated Sky Blue, winning 3-1. In the previous two games of the 2009 season, Freedom had notched a 2-1 win and a 4-4 draw against FC Blue.

Freedom is currently one point behind FC Blue in the WPS league standings. These two teams will not face off again until August 11 and will play each other twice in the final six weeks of the season.

"The most important thing is to manage our recovery and make sure the players that did not play significant time are prepared and sharp when called upon," says Washington Freedom Head Coach Jim Gabarra. "This league is very close and there are no easy matchups."

In their next game, Freedom plays FC Gold Pride this Sunday, July 11 in a match to be shown on Fox Sports Channel at 6 p.m. ET.

LAST GAME: Washington Freedom and the Chicago Red Stars fought to a 0-0 draw at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Sunday after a game full of shots, but no goals. In the scorching Fourth of July heat, goalkeeper Erin McLeod made 10 saves, keeping the game scoreless despite Chicago's 25 shots on goal. Freedom managed to generate two corner kicks late in the first half and the second half saw shots on goal from Cat Whitehill and Abby Long, but the score remained 0-0. The game was followed by a fireworks and concert display to celebrate the Fourth.

ONLINE VOTING FOR HALL OF FREEDOM ENDS TOMORROW: Fans can still get their final votes in now at www.WashingtonFreedom.com for the next Hall of Freedom inductee. The five finalists for the Hall of Freedom are Jen Grubb, owners Maureen and John Hendricks, Carrie Moore, Skylar Little and Lindsay Stoecker. The votes will be tallied and the final result will be announced at Freedom's July 24 home game against FC Gold Pride at half time. The Hall of Freedom is the highest honor that Freedom bestows upon its former players and personnel. The new inductee will be joining Mia Hamm, Steffi Jones, Siri Mullinix and David Vanole in Freedom history.
