Warriors Win Shootout with Rockers
May 7, 2003 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Utah Warriors News Release
If you missed listening to the Warriors football game last Saturday, you missed a barnburner! The Utah Warriors beat the Austin Rockers by a final score of 91 to 70. This was a league high for points scored in a game by a single team, this season. Quarterback Danny Ragsdale completed a career high nine touchdown passes. Jason Quinn racked up 111 yards and four touchdowns. Coach Lee Leslie was glad to have Emmett White back in the lineup (White was at an NFL camp last weekend). Emmett caught nine passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Cory Grow and Eugene Mirador also got into the action with a touchdown a piece.
Once again the defense found themselves short handed as Shawn Kojima and Rob Love both went out with separated shoulders. "With a week off we will have time to get our guys healthy again" said Coach Leslie. On the bright side, Lance Sopoaga retuned to the lineup. Sopoaga recovered a fumble and ran it 32 yards for a touchdown of his own!
This week the Warriors have their last bye week before playing eight games in eight weeks. The players will use this week to heal and rest up. They will also take advantage of their Saturday off and will spend time at different community events, meeting fans and signing autographs.
