Warriors Survive Cavalry Charge

West Valley City, UT – The Utah Warriors moved to 3-1 on the season after a 63-56 win over the Wyoming Cavalry in Casper, Wyoming Friday night. Utah rallied from a 23-7 deficit with 14:56 left in the second quarter and tied the game at 35-35 by halftime. Wyoming had a chance to tie the game on the last play, but Warrior linebacker Kautai Olevao knocked down Matt Strand's pass in the end-zone giving the Warriors their first road win of the season.

Warriors quarterback Doug Smith returned to action after missing a game with an infection in his right arm and finished the game 13x21 for 175 yards and six touchdowns. Smith also ran six times for 12 yards and added one score. Omar Bacon rushed for 48 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. Bacon added two receptions for 17 yards and one touchdown.

Mike Rigell had three catches for 46 yards and one touchdown. Cody Jamison had 183 all purpose yards, including 62 receiving and he scored once.

Bart Amundson led the Warriors with nine total tackles, including six solo. Jason Potter added six tackles and one pass break-up. Cazzie Brown had 1.5 tackles-for-loss.

Matt Strand led the Cavalry attack going 22x41 for 203 yards and six touchdowns. Eric Nelson hauled in eight receptions for 105 yards and three scores.
