Keystone Ice Miners News Release

CONNELLSVILLE, PA - The Warriors scored at the 7:21 mark of both the first and second periods en route to a 2-1 win over the Ice Miners Saturday night at the Ice Mine. Michigan's win kept their slim playoff hopes alive for another day and they took seven out of twelve head to head battled with Keystone on the season.

Peter Bates opened the scoring with his 9th goal of the season and fourth against the Ice Miners at 7:21 of the first, cashing a rebound off a Shane Cuckovich shot. Derek Frentz added a secondary assist. The Ice Miners were kept off the board in the first period for the sixth game in a row.

In the second, Cody Kuster ripped a shot past the glove hand of Nick Kossoff to extend the lead to 2-0. Strangely, the goal came at the 7:21 mark again. Cam Jorgensen and Ryan Sete were credited with assists. The Ice Miners finally got on the board with a third period powerplay goal at 12:14 when A.J. Coleman made a nifty wraparound effort. Lucas Little and Matt Jones assisted. Keystone had some chances to get the equalizer but ran out of time and fell by a 2-1 final. Chase Munroe's 30 saves were enough for his second win, both against Keystone. Kossoff stopped 29 in the loss.

With Soo falling to Johnstown again, the Ice Miners maintain a one point edge on the Eagles for 2nd place, with Soo's game-in-hand being played on Sunday afternoon. Michigan would be elimiated with another Johnstown victory. The Ice Miners finish up the regular season with a home and home against the Tomahawks next weekend. Friday is the regular season home finale at 7:30. Fans can purchase tickets online at keystoneiceminershockey.com or by calling 724-628-4847.
