Brooklyn Aviators News Release

Brooklyn, NY - The Aviators got out to another early lead tonight, but for the second time in as many nights saw that lead disappear in the final period and took the loss by the score of 6-4. The loss puts New York's backs against the wall down 2 games to none in this best-of-five series.

Ahmed Mahfouz and Pierre Dagenais each notched hat tricks in the final period and lead Akwesasne to the victory. Jesse Felten lead the way offensively for the A's and scored 2 goals on the night. Felten's pair of goals ties him with Matthew Puntereri for the most of any Aviator player this postseason with 6. Michael Thomson and Andrew Scampoli each added goals late, but it wasn't enough for New York.

The Aviators jumped out to a 1-0 lead nine minutes into the first frame. From behind his own net, Thomson found Felten streaking at the opposite blue line who slammed it home to give New York the early lead.

The physical play between these two teams continued in the 2nd period. Several penalties and scuffles made for an interesting period where the A's added onto their lead. Felten found the back of the net again, this time off a beautiful feed from John Goffredo that lead him right to the goal. With just one period remaining, the A's clung to a 2-0 lead.

The game took an unexpected turn for the worse for the A's in the final frame. Mahfouz finally put the Warriors on the board with 15:25 remaining. Just 17 seconds later, Dagenais would also light the lamp and all of a sudden the score was tied. Mahfouz and Dagenais would each add two more goals in the period which put the Aviators faithful into a state of shock. Although New York fought back late, they came up short and find themselves one game away from elimination.

Aviator's goaltender Kevin Druce, who was chased out of goal and replaced by Peter Dundovich after allowing the first 5 Akwesasne goals, takes the loss and moves to 3-3-1 this postseason. Warrior's net minder David Plouffe put together his second stellar performance in a row in this series and improves to 5-1-0.

New York will try to stay alive in Game 3 of this best-of-five series on Friday night at Akwesasne. The puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 PM and can be watched live on the FHL Sports Network at LiveSportsVideo.com.
