Warriors Battle But Fall to Raiders

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - The Warriors battled, but fell to the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday night to open up the weekend.
The Warriors penalty kill was tested early following a boarding call to defenceman Cooper Perrin. Back at even strength, Karter Lundmark tallied his first of the preseason near the midway part of the period.
The Raiders were sent to the penalty kill following a holding call to Carson Dyck. The Warriors couldn't break through on the power play, but did have one further successful penalty kill near the end of the frame following a tripping call to Preston Hoppe.
The Raiders got on the board with a trio of goals in less than five minutes near the halfway point of the middle period.The Raider's second goal came just 28 seconds into four-on-four following roughing minors assessed to Warriors' Captain Brady Ness and Raiders' forward Cash Lanigan.
Nolan Paquette tallied the Warriors second goal of the night to halve their deficit. Linden Abercrombie was assessed a tripping penalty and the Warriors headed back to the penalty kill. While on the power play, the Raiders were awarded a penalty shot. Cade Mitchell was able to hold off the Raiders' Athens Shingoose and the Warriors penalty kill stood strong.
Moments later, Rasmus Kamarainen drew a penalty shot for the Warriors and was able to capitalize to bring the Warriors even. The Warriors were awarded a power play opportunity following a minor penalty assessed to Jonah Sivertson.
Out of the box and back into the play, Jonah Sivertson restored Prince Albert's lead halfway through the period. After Cade Mitchell was pulled for the extra attacker, the Raiders sent home an empty-net goal to seal their win.
Jonah Sivertson sent home a goal to end the OT period in favour of the Raiders.
The Warriors went zero for two on the power play and three for three on the penalty kill. Kyle Jones opened the game for the Warriors with 25 saves on 28 shots. Cade Mitchell finished the game with 17 saves on 18 shots.
The Warriors will host the Swift Current Broncos at the Southland Co-op Centre on Saturday night. Tickets for the game can be purchased.
