
Warriors Announce NBA D-League Showcase 2016 Event Schedule

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.- The Santa Cruz Warriors announced today a full event schedule in connection with the NBA D-League Showcase 2016 presented by Samsung, which tips off Wednesday Jan. 6 and runs through Sunday, Jan. 10.
The 12th annual NBA D-League Showcase will take place at Kaiser Permanente Arena, home of the Santa Cruz Warriors, for the second consecutive year. Each of the NBA D-League's 19 teams will play two games during the 2016 NBA D-League Showcase which will culminate in a champion being crowned based on team's records and other advanced statistics. With the action tipping off at 10am P.T. each day, fans in Santa Cruz are slated to enjoy four games apiece Wednesday-Saturday and a three-game slate on Sunday.

Showcase Dribble Parade Presented by Spalding:
January 6th at 3:30 p.m.
Starting at Cathcart Street and continuing down Pacific Avenue to the Civic Auditorium, the Dribble Parade will tip-off the NBA D-League Showcase 2016. Local students will dribble down Pacific Ave. with special edition Showcase Spalding basketballs, and the first two thousand kids in attendance will get to take one home. Jr. NBA will also be providing t-shirts to all kids dribbling in the parade. The parade will culminate with a pep rally at the Civic Auditorium.
Math Warriors Program Presented by Kaiser Permanente:
January 7th and 8th at 10:00 a.m., Kaiser Permanente Arena
For the second consecutive year, the Warriors have partnered with Santa Cruz City Schools to implement "Math Warriors," a basketball-math curriculum in all Santa Cruz City elementary and middle schools. As a part of the program, all students that participate in Math Warriors will attend a field trip to the Showcase. On Thursday and Friday, the Warriors are bussing nearly 4,000 students to the Showcase to watch a game and work on their math curriculum, developed from NBA D-League statistics. This year, Math Warriors has expanded to include Costanoa High School, part of the Branciforte Small Schools.
Jr. NBA Basketball Clinic:
January 7th at 3:15 p.m., Kaiser Permanente Arena
The NBA D-League along with three players from every NBA D-League team will host a Jr. NBA Clinic for 75 local youth from the Watsonville Family YMCA and Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz. This event is a part of the NBA's Jr. NBA initiative, the league's youth basketball participation program that teaches the fundamental skills and values of the game at the grassroots level to help grow and improve the experience for all. Through a network of affiliated youth basketball organizations, live events and interactive experiences, the Jr. NBA program aims to reach five million youth ages 6-14 in the U.S. and Canada over a two-year period as part of its expanded efforts launched in October 2015.
