Elma, N.Y. (Monday, April 29, 2013) - The Western New York Flash has announced that forward Abby Wambach has been medically cleared to return to play. Wambach suffered a head injury on April 20th in a 1-1 draw with the Washington Spirit.
Wambach missed the Flash's home opener on Saturday, but will play on Wednesday night when the Western New York host Sky Blue FC at 7:05 p.m. The game will be a rematch of the season opener, which Sky Blue FC won 1-0 on an own goal.
It will also mark Wambach's first time taking the field in front of her hometown crowd.
The Flash (0-2-1) is still looking for its first win of the season. Tickets are available for Wednesday's game online or by calling the Sahlen's Stadium box office at (585) 454-KICK.
