Walleye Fall to Brampton 5-2

(Brampton, ON) Shane Berschbach scored twice but not enough for the Walleye in a 5-2 loss Sunday afternoon in Brampton. Toledo has a record of 3-2-0-1 and is 3-2-0-1 on the road.

A.J. Jenks found Shane Berschbach behind the Brampton defense at 8:36 of the first period and Berschbach picked up his first goal of the season to put the Walleye in front 1-0. Goaltender Jake Paterson kept the score 1-0 when he stopped Angelo Miceli on a breakaway at 15:24 of the period.

Toledo did not score on a five on three power play in the second period and led 1-0 when Brampton found the back of the net for the first time at 16:33. Berschbach picked up his second goal of the game at 18:35 with a deflection at the side of the Brampton net. Beast countered with a goal 40 seconds later to even the score after two periods.

Kyle Bonis nearly gave Toledo the lead again midway through the third period but hit both the crossbar and the post. Brampton took their first lead of the night at 10:15 on a goal from Brandon Marino. A power play goal from Scott Howes made it 4-2 at 14:33 for a 4-2 Beast lead.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jake Paterson finished with 26 saves on the 30 shots he faced and his record is 1-2-0-0 on the season. Toledo is 5-1-0 all-time vs. Brampton. The Walleye finished the game 0-7 on the power play.
