Louisville Bats News Release
The Louisville Bats pitching staff struggled to find the strike zone early against the Indianapolis Indians, digging a a big hole in a game they ultimately lost 12-7 on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
Louisville Starter Jose Acuna was rocked, giving up eight runs, seven earned on five hits while walking five in two plus innings. Making his Triple-A debut, Thomas Farr also struggled, walking four and allowing three runs on four hits as the Indians quickly reached double digits.
The Bats got on the board in the fourth on a Will Benson RBI double and an Austin Hendrick RBI single. They later got a run in the eighth on a two-out RBI single from P.J. Higgins.
In the ninth, Hector Rodriguez doubled the Bats' run total with his team-leading 26th home run of the season, a three-run shot to left. Benson kept the game alive with a long solo shot to right to make it 12-7 but it was too little, too late.
Sam Haggerty ended the night on the mound for the Bats after starting the game at shortstop, pitching two scoreless innings on just nine pitches.
