VSI Tampa Bay FC News Release
Tampa, Fla - VSI Tampa Bay FC W-League kick up the weekend's soccer events away from home; while VSI PDL battle Ft. Lauderdale Saturday evening before VSI PRO host Wilmington Sunday evening.
VSI Tampa Bay FC W-League propel off last Sunday's 2-0 victory into this weekend's games against the Atlanta Silverbacks and the Carolina Elite Cobras. With back-to-back games our W-League's first stop of the holiday weekend finds them in the Atlanta Silverbacks' Park.
The Silverbacks look to bounce back from their 3-0 loss against Charlotte last Saturday, May 18. After the W-League battle in Atlanta Saturday, May 25 they travel the distance to Carolina to face the Cobras on Sunday, May 26 for the third time and final time this season. VSI split with Carolina this past weekend with a 1-0 loss in VSI's home opener and a 2-0 win last Sunday.
University of South Florida Bulls Victoria Abnathy and Cara Patterson lead the stats board with two points apiece.
As the W-League travel our PDL and PRO remain in Plant City Stadium with PDL kicking off Saturday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m. against Ft. Lauderdale Schulz Academy and PRO kicking off at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 against the Wilmington Hammerheads.
VSI's PDL, directed by Head Coach Sheldon Cipriani faced Orlando City PDL this past Wednesday evening and drew in Orlando receiving one point on the road against one of the toughest competitors they will face this 2013 season. Head Coach Cipriani was extremely pleased with the abilities of his team and the potential for the rest of this season.
The PDL team enters their match against Ft. Lauderdale with a 1-0-1 record. Ft. Lauderdale's record stands at 0-2-0 entering the game Saturday evening. After the PDL clear the pitch Saturday evening, VSI PRO take the field Sunday to host Wilmington.
The Hammerhead's record stands at 2-5-0 and the Hammerheads are coping with travel and a high level of games played in a short period of time before Sunday's meeting with VSI. Sunday's game is the fourth the Hammerheads will play in nine days. Three of these four matches are on the road including the back-to-back matches against Orlando at the Citrus Bowl on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday's match in Plant City Stadium against VSI Tampa Bay FC.
Interim Head Coach Joel Harrison is guiding VSI Tampa Bay FC into Sunday evening's match, where VSI enters rested after last Tuesday's Open Cup game against the Tampa Bay Rowdies where the Rowdies two goals trumped VSI's one.
VSI Tampa Bay FC's record stands at 4-3-0 for the 2013 USL PRO season with team scoring leaders' Mauricio Salles and Andriy Budnyy at the forefront of VSI's standings with seven and four points respectively.
Tickets to the PRO game are $10 for general admission adults and $5 for children under 12 years old. As always our youth affiliates, VSI Pinellas Flames and VSI West Florida Flames players wear their jerseys into the match to gain free entry into all our 2013 USL PRO, PDL, and W-League home matches.
