
Voting Continues for 2008 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year; Top 10 Semifinalists Unveiled

NEW YORK (Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008) - Fan voting has determined the top 10 "semifinalists" for the 2008 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year have been determined and fans may continue to vote online at MLSnet.com to determine the best goal of the 2008 regular season. Voting started Thursday, Oct. 30, with fans able to select from 35 regular-season goals, which included the 31 winners of the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week and four additional nominees.
Nov. 6 - Nov. 12 - Voting to select top five "finalists"
Nov. 13 - Nov. 18 - Voting to select the 2008 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year
The Sierra Mist Goal of the Year will be announced on Nov. 19, 2008.

Top 10 Sierra Mist Goal of the Year Candidates:
Juan Pablo Angel, New York Red Bull (Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Galaxy)
On a counterattack, Angel collects a pass on the left flank and makes a penetrating run into the Galaxy's penalty area. After faking out a defender, Angel deftly lobs the ball with his right foot over Galaxy goalkeeper Steve Cronin.
Davy Arnaud, Kansas City (Week 25 vs. Los Angeles Galaxy)
Playing in front of a rowdy crowd in Kansas City, Arnaud unleashes a powerful right footed-shot from more than 30 yards that is still rising as it hits the upper right corner of the goal.
David Beckham, Los Angeles Galaxy (Week 9 vs. Kansas City Wizards)
Beckham takes advantage of the situation as Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman is pushing up for a late game corner kick. He collects the ball at the top of LA's penalty area, takes three strides, and blasts the ball from more than 60 yards into the empty net.
Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Chicago Fire (Week 7 vs. D.C. United)
Blanco makes a darting run up the center of the field and then hits a dipping a left-footed shot from 30 yards that finds the top right corner of the goal.
Geoff Cameron, Houston Dynamo (Week 2 vs. FC Dallas)
Brian Ching megs a defender to find a charging Cameron, who meets and strikes the ball with force between two FC Dallas defenders from outside of the 18-yard box.
Danny Cepero, New York Red Bull (Week 30 vs. Columbus Crew)
Red Bulls goalkeeper Danny Cepero launches a free kick 80 yards from goal that bounces at the edge of the 18-yard box over the head of Columbus keeper Andy Gruenebaum. Cepero becomes the first goalkeeper to score a goal in MLS history.
Marcello Gallardo, D.C. United (Week 5 vs Real Salt Lake)
Marc Burch sends a lofting cross into the box from the left side of the field. Gallardo runs into the penalty area, winds up and strikes the ball in full volley into the far left corner of the goal from a tight angle.
Will Johnson, Real Salt Lake (Week 30 vs. FC Dallas)
Chris Wingert centers the ball to Johnson who collects the ball just outside of the 18-yard box. Johnson flicks the ball up, turns and volleys it off the near post, past a diving Dario Sala.
Tom McManus, Colorado Rapids (Week 9 vs. Chivas USA)
The Rapids forward settles the ball and quickly strikes a powerful shot from 35 yards out that curves in flight just inside the right post and past the outstretched arms of Chivas USA's Brad Guzan.
Robbie Rogers, Columbus Crew (Week 26 vs. New York Red Bull)
After controlling a scooped pass from teammate Gino Padula, Rogers darts through the New York midfield and strikes a right-footed shot from 25 yards over the outstretched arms of Red Bull keeper Jon Conway.
