Vortex Victorious on Gillespie's Late Goal

Allen Eller and Steve Gillespie led the Ohio Vortex to a late 8-7 win over the Detroit Waza at the Canton Civic Center.

Eller scored four goals in a game that was tied six times. Detroit, with an early 3-1 lead, was the only team to ever lead by more than one goal.

Gillespie broke a 7-7 tie with 2:07 remaining to improve Ohio's record to 3-5. Adis Kuduzovic scored just 43 seconds earlier to bring the Vortex back from a 7-6 deficit. Gillespie finished with a goal and two assists, while Kuduzovic had two goals and one assist.

Eller did the heavy lifting earlier in the game. Two of his goals gave Ohio the lead and one goal tied the game. His fourth goal tied the game at 6-6 midway through the fourth quarter.

Mtt Lividini was Detroit's top point-getter with a goal and two assists while Dominic Scicluna and Blake Ordell had two goals each.
