New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans VooDoo is proud to announce that Kicker Kenny Spencer has joined Kicking For The Dream's effort to fight ovarian cancer.

Billy Cundiff, who is currently in training camp with the New York Jets and who has been an NFL kicker for over 10 years for teams such as the Cowboys, Saints, Browns, Ravens and Redskins, launched Kicking For The Dream in May of 2013, as an effort to support Colleen's Dream Foundation, a foundation which raises money to support research for the early detection of, and improved treatment for, ovarian cancer.

Cundiff, a long-time friend of Spencer, approached Spencer about joining Kicking For The Dream's cause to fight ovarian cancer about a week ago.

"When Billy asked me to be a part of his foundation, it was a no- brainer," said Spencer. "I donated to the cause myself, and I push it as much as I can. Ovarian cancer is a serious disease and those women who are affected need our help."

Spencer was assigned to the New Orleans VooDoo on June 27, 2013. While with the VooDoo, Spencer converted 36-of-36 PAT's. Prior to joining the VooDoo, Spencer spent time with the Shock in 2012 for his rookie AFL season. While with the Shock, he set a new league single-season record with 138 converted PATs on the season (94.5 conversion percentage). In field goal situations, Spencer converted 4 of 7 attempts with all three misses coming on field goals over 50 yards. For his outstanding performance in the 2012 season, Spencer received all-league honors and was named the AFL Kicker of the Year. After the 2012 season, Spencer spent time with the UFL's Virginia Destroyers.

Prior to joining the Shock, Spencer spent a season with the PIFL's Alabama Hammers where he converted on 9 of 18 field goals (long of 54 yards) and was 55 of 65 on extra point attempts. During his collegiate career, Spencer converted on 63-of-66 PAT and finished 12-of-17 on field goals as a senior at North Alabama.

So far, Spencer has raised $130 toward an effort to support Colleen's Dream Foundation.
