New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS (November 7, 2013) - Season 5 of Pit Bulls and Parolees premiered this past Saturday on Animal Planet.

The New Orleans VooDoo were fortunate enough to begin their relationship with the Villalobos Rescue Center and Animal Planet's "Pit Bulls and Parolees" during the 2013 season. "Pit Bulls and Parolees" is a series on Animal Planet that follows the turbulent drama and bittersweet moments as ex-convicts and ill-reputed dogs come together to strengthen one another.

Through the relationship with Villalobos Rescue Center, the VooDoo adopted a pit bull by the name of Rhino. Rhino earned #k9 for the VooDoo after being officially signed by VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara during Media Day last season. Along with Rhino, Tia Torres, Kanani and Keli'i of Animal Planet's reality show "Pit Bulls and Parolees" showed their VooDoo spirit during home games throughout the 2013 season. Torres' sons took it a step further and took part in the game day production this past season by dressing up as "Voo" and "Doo" to help get the crowds hyped.

VooDoo games were not the only events Villalobos and the VooDoo partnered up on. Both parties also attended the Barkus parade in New Orleans and the Mystic Krewe of Mardi Paws parade in Covington where Rhino wore his VooDoo jersey proudly. VooDoo players and staff also joined in on the fun by passing through the Villalobos headquarters to help walk the rescued canines.

Animal Planet's film crew was in attendance to all of these special events to capture the smiles that Rhino brings to his fans. Footage from the Barkus parade will air on November 16 and the November 30 episode will include VooDoo game footage of Kanani and Keli'i performing as "Voo" and "Doo." The VooDoo would like to thank Villalobos Rescue Center for all that they do, and we hope to continue our relationship through the 2014 season.

Be sure to tune in to Animal Planet on Saturday's at 10 p.m. ET/PT to catch all of the drama on "Pit Bulls and Parolees."
