New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans VooDoo have been assigned wide receiver A.C. Leonard, announced the VooDoo front office Friday morning.

Leonard (6-4, 250, Tennessee State) enters his rookie season with the Arena Football League. A four-star recruit coming out of high school, Leonard transferred from the University of Florida to Tennessee State University in 2012. Leonard finished out his collegiate career with 93 receptions for 1273 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2013, Leonard was a Second-Team FCS All-American selection and a second-team All-OVC pick after leading the Tigers with 34 receptions and 441 yards for an average of 13 yards per catch. Tennessee State made the playoffs for the first time since 1999 in 2013 and won a playoff game for the first time since 1986. The Tigers were the first OVC team to win a road playoff game since 1986 and the first HBCU to win a postseason contest since 1999.

"A.C. is big, physical receiver who runs a 4.40 forty," said Head Coach Cokinos. "He is a very rare player in pure physical talent. He has very good ball skills and runs well after the catch. This is an opportunity for him to showcase his abilities on a higher level. We are looking forward to working with A.C."

In 2014, Leonard signed as a rookie free agent with the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League after going undrafted out of Tennessee State University.
