Linebacker Goosby Returns to Soul in 2015

PHILADELPHIA (December 5, 2014) - The Philadelphia Soul and the Arena Football League announce the return of Joe Goosby (6'1, 235, Tulane) to the team for the 2015 season. The jack linebacker has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the team.

Goosby, who is entering his fifth AFL season, was No. 3 on the Soul defense in total tackles (58.5), while recording two interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 2014.

"Joe plays the game the way it is meant to be played," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "He has been with me since 2010 and he has proved his loyalty through the years. We are very proud and excited to have him continue to be a part of this organization."

In his career with the Soul, Goosby amassed 223.0 total tackles, 10 interceptions, 3.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and eight defensive touchdowns over his first three years with the team. He joined the Dallas Vigilantes in the 2011 season as a rookie free agent. He amassed 51.0 total tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception that season.

Prior to joining the Vigilantes, Goosby was a member of the IFL's San Angelo Stampede Express (2010), and the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (2009). Goosby played collegiately at Tulane University (2004-06) and was an All-Conference USA selection. In three seasons at Tulane he totaled 100.0 tackles (60 solo) in 33 career games.
