New Orleans VooDoo News Release
In filling out his coaching staff for the upcoming 2005 season, New Orleans VooDoo coach Mike Neu announced the hiring of special teams coordinator Ken Matous.
Matous comes to the VooDoo after having spent the past season as the head coach of the af2 Tulsa Talons, where he led the team to a 13-3 record and the Southwest division title, winning their final 10 regular season games. Matous' team reached the semifinals of the ArenaCup playoffs.
A 24-year coaching veteran, Matous (pronounced MAY-tosh) came to the Talons after spending the 2002 season as the offensive coordinator at Western Carolina University. With the Cobras, Matous tutored current VooDoo OS Aaron Bailey and WR/DB Carl Bond in the return game and also worked with K Brian Schmitz.
"Ken is an outstanding coach who we are excited to be able to add to our staff," said Neu. "I have worked with him in Carolina and he did an excellent job with our special teams there and he we are excited to have him work with our units in New Orleans."
The addition of Matous rounds out the VooDoo coaching staff which includes Neu, defensive coordinator Kevin Porter, line coach Junior Ili and strength & conditioning coach Adam Bailey.
