March 12, 2008 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Vancouver Volcanoes News Release

Vancouver, WA -The Vancouver Volcanoes will get their 2008 IBL season underway on Saturday, March 15 at the Monroe Sports Arena against the Snohomish County Explosion. The Volcanoes have assembled a roster capable of competing with the league's elite, and should be vastly improved this season.

Key Returnees

Porter Troupe - 6'5" - Warner Pacific - Troupe's off-season progress has been off the charts. Troupe has the body of an NBA shooting guard, and is developing the skills and attitude to match. Troupe led the Volcanoes in scoring last season at 20.3ppg.

Brad Lechtenberg - 6'2" - San Diego - Lechtenberg is a 2006 IBL All-Star with tremendous range and a quick release. Lechtenberg averaged 17.4ppg for the Volcanoes in 2007. Lechtenberg led the NCAA in three point shooting accuracy in 2003.

Alex Hartman - 6'7" - Concordia University - Hartman was a consistent performer for the Volcanoes last season, averaging 15.8 points and 1.3 steals per game. Hartman played in Germany this off-season, averaging 22.9 points per game for TS Goeppingen. There is highlight footage of Hartman (and other members of the '07 Volcanoes) available at www.iblhoopsonline.com.

Key Additions

Kevin ‘Pip' Bloodsaw - 6'5" - Ozarks College - Pip, the IBL's All-Time leading scorer, earned All-Star honors as a Volcano in 2005 and 2006. Last year, Pip averaged 17.9 points for the Central Oregon Hotshots, but returns to Vancouver in pursuit of an IBL championship.

Kevin Tyner - 6'0" - Western Oregon - Tyner ran the offense for the high-scoring Salem Stampede in 2007 as Salem finished 18-4. Tyner also has professional experience in Germany.

Jake Carlisle - 6'7" - Alaska Anchorage - Carlisle has played previously in the CBA and the IBL. Carlisle joins Pip in a return to the Volcanoes with the same goals- an IBL Championship.

The Volcanoes have also added Edjuan Green (6'8" - Texas A&M) and Shawn Malloy (6'11" - New Orleans) to the roster. Both Green and Malloy are currently playing overseas, and will join the Volcanoes in April. Green was a force in the IBL last season, scoring 20-plus points and grabbing 20-plus rebounds in a game five times. Malloy is raw offensively, but has tremendous athleticism and up-side.
