HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Tennessee Valley Vipers will be hosting Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, May 24 at the Von Braun Center Arena. Active duty, National Guard Reserve and retired members of the military only, can present their Military ID at the Von Braun Center ticket office the day of the game for free admission.

"I think sports teams are a reflection of our society," Vipers owner Art Clarkson said. "Memorial Day is a very sacred day and I think sports venues are a perfect place to celebrate the sacrifices of our military personnel that pay the ultimate price for this country."

Military Appreciation Night will also include military displays at Viperville, which begins at 5:00. "OMEMS is furnishing a TOW system, a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, an Avenger, and a display for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center of Excellence, to include the EOD robot. The National Guard will also have a Patriot Launcher on-hand. Military personnel will be on hand for demonstrations and to answer questions," said Jerry Campbell Deputy Director, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center of Excellence, of the Ordnance Munitions and Electronics Maintenance School.

"This was the Viper's idea," added Campbell. "This is the Saturday before Memorial Day, and it is their way of recognizing and honoring local military." In addition to the Viperville activities, a soldier will sing the National Anthem, the color guard will be from the Non Commissioned Officers Academy and a local war hero will assist in the coin toss.

The Vipers are hosting the Caper Fear Wildcats and will be handing out 5,000 American Flags to everyone in attendance and red, white and blue umbrellas to the first 1,500 adults 19 and over. Kickoff is set for 7:30. For more information on Military Night or ticket information, call the Vipers front office at (256) 551-3240.
