Vipers Pick up Defensive Back in Trade

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Tennessee Valley Vipers traded Bachary McGruder and future considerations to the Cincinnati Swarm for defensive specialist, Chazz Moore.

Moore spent part of last season on the Los Angeles Avengers practice squad. He played two seasons at Cal State Northridge in 1998 and 1999. He played in 22 games and recorded 97 tackles, nine tackles for loss of 46 yards, three interceptions, 17 pass break ups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He returned the fumble 93 yards for a touchdown. He was named Honorable Mention All-Big Sky Conference in 1998. He played the 1997 season at Alan Hancock College where he recorded 103 tackles and the 1996 season at Eastern Arizona Junior College where he rushed for 804 yards on 170 carries and was named all-conference.

The Vipers currently have 28 players on the roster and must have that number cut to 21 by next Monday. The season opener is set for April 5 in Fort Myers Florida, while the home opener is April 11 against the Quad City Steamwheelers. Call (256) 551-3240 for ticket information.

af2 KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

CHICAGO - The 2003 af2 season is set to kickoff this weekend as 10 teams will be in action.

The season kicks off Friday night when the Tulsa Talons visit the defending af2 Champions, Peoria Pirates. On Saturday night, the Cincinnati Swarm visits the Louisville Fire, the Arkansas Twisters visit the Wichita Stealth and the Bakersfield Blitz visits the San Diego Riptide.

The Green Bay Blizzard visits the Hawaiian Islanders on Sunday night.

The rest of the league is set to kickoff next weekend.

OPEN HOUSE TOMORROW NIGHT

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Tennessee Valley Vipers will be having an open house on Thursday night from 5:30 -7:30 in the Von Braun Center South Hall.

Season ticket holders can come by and pick up their tickets and anyone interested in purchasing season tickets can come and pick out their seats. The Viper players and coaches, Vinnie the Viper and the Snake Charmer Dance team will be available for autographs.
