Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release
Huntsville, AL - The Tennessee Valley Vipers lost a key addition to the 2003 team today when Chris Johnson was signed to the practice squad of the Carolina Cobras.
He caught 57 passes for 823 yards and 27 touchdowns for the Augusta Stallions last season. He recorded 51.0 tackles, two interceptions, four pass break ups and one fumble recovery. One of the interceptions was returned for a touchdown.
He enjoyed a stellar four-year career as Georgia Southern's big-play receiver from 1997 to 2000. He will go down in the school record books as perhaps the top all-time receiver in Eagle history. He joins Kelly Snell, Todd Latourette, Jermaine Alfred, David Sucura and Chris Bell all members of the 2002 team that went to camp with an Arena team this season. The Vipers also lost kicker, Mark Lewis, a 2003 signee to the Detroit Fury last week.
