
Vipers Fall in Pre-Season Finale

FRISCO, TEXAS - The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers closed the pre-season with a 112-92 loss to the Iowa Energy on Saturday at Fieldhouse USA.
The Vipers (1-1) trailed 30-29 at halftime, but were outscored 27-17 in the second quarter as the Energy (0-1) took a 57-46 lead. The Energy had their largest lead at 57-42 after a three-pointer by Michael Haynes late in the second quarter.
The Vipers got within 66-61 early in the second quarter, but the Energy responded with a 15-3 run, capped by a slam by Othyus Jeffers to make it 81-64.
Jeffers finished with a game-high 25 points.
The Vipers were led in scoring by Jerel McNeal, who scored 17 points. Houston Rockets-assignee Patrick Patterson scored 15 points while Patrick Sullivan finished with 11 points.
