Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), played tug-of-war with the Adirondack Frostbite for the lead Saturday night in Glens Falls, NY, but came up short as Mike Berry netted the game-winner with just 51 seconds left on the clock.
The Frostbite got an early advantage, scoring twice in the first period with goals from Kevin Watters at 3:27 and David Moccia at 15:05. The Vipers retaliated in the second, however, as Steve Crusco wasted no time scoring off passes from defensemen Branislav Kvetan and Rico Fatticci at the 1:09 mark of the period. Adirondack added one more to make it a 3-1 game at 5:18, but L.P. Martin got the Vipers back within one goal at the 10:30 mark with the help of Kvetan and Vipers captain David Beauregard.
At the start of the third, Petr Jelinek evened the score at three apiece with a goal just 58 seconds in with assists from Crusco and Fatticci. The Vipers maintained their composure throughout the period, holding off the Frostbite, while trying to take the lead. At the 19:09 mark of the period, with less than a minute of regulation left to play, Mike Berry snuck one past Vipers goaltender Jamie Hodson for his second goal of the game. Roanoke was never able to recover.
The Vipers' record drops to below the .500 mark at 7-8-3 (17 points), as the Vipers head back home for a three-game homestand in Roanoke. The Vipers need YOUR support to start a winning streak!
