Vipers Douse Fire

Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release


LOUISVILLE, KY - The Tennessee Valley Vipers fell behind once again but rallied and won their third game ofthe season 55-27 over the Louisville Fire.

The Fire(1-2) jumped out to an early 13-0 lead on a 2-yd Pookie Jones run and a 49-ydAlfonso Browning reception from Jones. Both scores were set up by interceptionsby former Viper Arkee Thompson. He intercepted three passes on the evening.

The Vipers(3-0) responded with Matt Sauk touchdown passes to Michael James and CalvinHall. Louisville went back up 20-14 with a Browning 44-yard reception fromPatrick Rinard. The Fire would not score again until late in the fourth quarteron a Nick Iano fumble return after Xavier Patterson fumbled an interception return.

Matt Saukcompleted 21-30 passes for 260 yards and six touchdowns on the night. Hecompleted passes to eight different receivers and threw touchdown passes tofive different receivers.

Calvin Hallled the receivers with five receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown. MichaelJames caught five passes for 42 yards and two touchdowns in his first game.Xavier Patterson, Ronney Daniels and Reggie Worthy all caught touchdown passes.

MarvinStrong and Jimmy Freeman scored their first touchdowns of the season, Strong witha 7-yard run and Freeman with a 2-yard run.

Hall,Daniels, Patterson and Chazz Moore all intercepted passes from Firequarterbacks that had not thrown an interception this season.

TheVipers are off next week before hosting the Bossier City Battle Wings on May 3.
