
Vipers And Pepper's To Host Three Rockets Playoff Viewing Parties

MCALLEN, TEXAS - The NBA D-League Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Pepper's at Uptown announced today they will be hosting watch parties for the first three games of the Western Conference Semifinals Series between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
At each party, fans can register for a chance to win an Aaron Brooks autographed Rockets jersey. The winners will be chosen during Friday's watch party. Contestants must be present to win.
Additionally, one pair of tickets to the Rockets game against the Boston Celtics on October 7 at Dodge Arena will be raffled off each night, courtesy of Pepper's at Uptown.
The Rockets have also donated giveaway items for the viewing parties.
Monday and Wednesday's games begin at 9:30 p.m., while Friday's game starts at 8:30 p.m. Join fellow Rockets and Vipers fans for pre-game festivities 30 minutes before scheduled tip-off.
Happy Hour specials at Pepper's will be in effect for the duration of each game.
"This is another great way to not only show our solidarity with the Rockets, but to win some prizes and watch some former Vipers on the biggest of stages," Vipers President/GM Brian Michael Cooper said.
Both the Rockets and Lakers have Vipers alumni on their teams. The Rockets' starting point guard is Brooks, who was assigned to the Vipers during the 2007-08 season. Brooks averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in two contests, both at Dodge Arena, for the Vipers.
Brooks averaged 15.3 points and 4.3 assists per game in the Rockets opening round victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
Joey Dorsey, who was inactive for the first round of the NBA Playoffs for the Rockets, was an NBA-assignee this past season, averaging 9.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in seven contests for the Vipers.
Shannon Brown, who comes off the bench for the Lakers, was an NBA- assignee from the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, He averaged 20.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Vipers in five games last season.
Brown averaged 7.2 points per game while hitting six-of-nine three- point attempts in the Lakers' first round win over the Utah Jazz.
