Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League (IFL) is proud to announce the Week 4 Vidswap.com Players of the Week. Two Nebraska Danger players as well as a member of the Cedar Rapids Titans take home honors for their performances in Week 4.
Offensive Player of the Week: Jameel Sewell (QB, Nebraska Danger)
The Danger offense pitched as close to a perfect game as possible against the Colorado Ice in Week 4. The Danger scored on 11 of their 12 possessions, paving the way for a 73-50 victory. The lone exception to scoring drives came on Nebraska's final offensive possession, which featured the Danger "taking a knee" to run out the remaining time on the clock. Sewell (6'3, 220, Virginia) dominated the game, completing 18 of 25 passes for 226 yards and 6 touchdowns. He added 7 rushes for 47 yards and touchdown on the ground. Sewell leads the IFL in quarterback rating at 126.4. The Danger are off to a 2-0 start against tough competition (Ice and Sioux Falls Storm). A win at Tri-Cities on Friday night could make the Danger the team to beat this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Xzavie Jackson (DL, Cedar Rapids Titans)
For only the third time in IFL history, and the first from the defensive side of the ball, a player has earned back-to-back player of the week awards. Players previously accomplishing the feat include former Green Bay Blizzard and current Cedar Rapids Titans RB Laron Council (Week 16&17, 2012) and Green Bay Blizzard KR B.J. Hill (Week 5&6, 2011). Jackson (6'3, 295, Missouri) and the rest of the Cedar Rapids Titans proved too much to handle in a 54-12 victory over the Wyoming Cavalry in Week 4. Jackson registered 3 tackles, all for loss, 3 sacks, and broke up one pass against the Cavalry. Jackson and his defensive line mates applied pressure to QB Barney O'Donnell all game, forcing an intentional grounding for a safety as well as an interception that was returned for a touchdown. At 4-0, the Titans head into a bye week already matching its win total from a season ago.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Randy Bell (KR, Nebraska Danger)
For the second consecutive week a Nebraska Danger kick returner takes home Special Teams honors. Bell (5'10, 230, Carson-Newman) gave the Colorado Ice headaches on Saturday night, accounting for 225 total yards. Bell returned 6 kickoffs for 176 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown return in the 2nd quarter. Bell also contributed on offense rushing for 33 yards on 3 carries, including a 26-yard touchdown scamper, in addition to catching one pass for 16 yards. The Danger will need to be sharp in all three phases of the game against a very talented Tri-Cities team on Friday night.
