Saint John Riptide News Release
SAINT JOHN - After some early season home woes, the Saint John Riptide have fashioned a three-game winning streak at Harbour Station courtesy of a 94-91 victory over the St. John's Edge Wednesday night.
With the game tied late, guard Frank Bartley scored four straight points to help the 'Tide capture their 10th win of the National Basketball League of Canada season.
T.J. Maston led Saint John in scoring with 26 points while Bartley added 16.
Kemy Osse once again contributed large off the bench with 14 points. Brent Arrington dropped in 11 to accent a game-high nine assists.
Bryce Washington recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the 10-17 'Tide.
Junior Cadougan led the Edge with 25 points while Desmond Lee poured in 21. St. John's, which played without former Canadian national team guard Carl English, and Boston Celtics alumnus Glen (Big Baby) Davis, fell to 15-11 with the loss.
Thanks to some lockdown defence and a 10-point quarter by Maston, the Riptide turned a one-point halftime deficit into a 65-57 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Saint John trailed 43-42 at the half.
The 'Tide were on top 22-19 after one quarter despite leading by as many as 12 points before St. John's closed the gap late.
Saint John returns to action Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Island Storm visit Harbour Station. The Riptide travel to Halifax to face the Hurricanes Sunday at 2 p.m.
