New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS - Looking to bolster a pass rush with just four sacks on the season, and none since week four, the VooDoo have added veteran defensive lineman Dominie Pittman to the squad.
Pittman (6-3, 255) brings six seasons of professional football experience to New Orleans, including the last four in the Arena Football League. His start between the walls came with the Pittsburgh Power where he spent 2011 and 2012. In Pittsburgh he tallied 55 tackles with 10.5 of those coming behind the line of scrimmage, including 10 sacks.
Prior to last season Pittman was one of seven players selected by the LA KISS in the first expansion draft held by the Arena Football League since 2006. In just 10 games with the KISS Pittman collected 15.5 tackles, and 3.5 sacks as well as broke up three passes. In eight games this season for Los Angeles Pittman has 9.5 tackles with three coming behind the line of scrimmage. He's also tallied one sack, and a pair of quarterback hurries.
Prior to his arrival in the Arena Football League, Pittman spent 2010 and part of 2011 with the Canadian Football League's BC Lions. For the Lions he played in eight games and was credited with 14 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
From 2006-10 Pittman played in 45 games for the University of North Alabama Lions. Most of his contributions came during his junior and senior seasons where he led the Lions in sacks with five and five-and-a-half sacks respectively. "Dee" finished his NCAA career with 76 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and four pass breakups.
