Vermont Frost Heaves Announce Player Tryout Camp

Barre, Vermont - The Vermont Frost Heaves of the Premier Basketball League are pleased to announce they will be holding an open tryout on Saturday, October 9th, at Essex High School, in Essex Junction, Vermont.
The Frost Heaves are entering their fifth season, third in the Premier Basketball League, and have amassed a league franchise record of 102 - 26. The Heaves are 7-1 in post season play having qualified for the post season 3 of their 4 years of existence. Vermont is committed to community involvement and enjoys an avid fan base in the Green Mountain State.
The one day tryout will include team drills, individual skill work, fitness testing and live scrimmages. Frost Heaves Head Coach Joe Salerno, along with his coaching staff will be on hand to evaluate players, with as many as three invitations to the Frost Heaves training camp this December up for grabs.
"We have had tremendous success in previous years with our open tryout," said Salerno. "Last year we invited four players from this combine to our training camp. All four of those guys made our initial active roster, with three of them, Markus Austin, Matt Hall, and Ross Demasi remaining on our active roster for the entire 2010 season. We are thrilled that Coach Goodrich and Essex High School is welcoming the Frost Heaves back to their campus for our combine again this year. The facilities are first class and offer everything we need to hold such a great event."
Roughly 60 players attended the one day tryout last season. "The open tryout is a great opportunity for players to come in and show us what they can do," commented Salerno. "It also gives our fans the chance to get an early glimpse of potential new players for the upcoming season."
The pre-registration fee for the tryout is $100, or $120 at the door. Player registration begins at 8:00am with the doors opening to the public at 9:00am.
