The Nashville Venom will look to get back to their winning ways when they take on the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks this Friday at Municipal Auditorium. Last week the Alabama Hammers came to the ‚¬ËœSnake Pit' and spoiled the Venom's home opener defeating them 34-26 in a mistake filled game.

"(Alabama) was prepared and beat us in every facet of the game," said Venom Head Coach Billy Back. "We didn't match their intensity. Scoring 26 points is an embarrassment. Our defense did some good things but I am not happy about the pass rush. Lehigh has brought in a lot of new guys so they will be ready. Like Alabama they feel like they owe us. We better be ready on Friday."

Lehigh Valley fell to Nashville in the PIFL championship game last year. The lost seemed to jumpstart them in the offseason with key additions. One of the Steelhawks' new players is former Venom RB/WR Mack Ogletree. Other additions include 2014 All-PIFL performer DE/LB Amara Kamara (Harrisburg), DE/LB Gerald Bryant (Harrisburg) and kicker Shawn Leo (Trenton).

"Seeing a longtime player and friend like Mack on the other side of the field is going to be different," said Back. "He has been with me for the past three years and has been a weapon for us. I'm glad he is playing and having fun. Our guys will enjoy competing against him and I know he will be glad to play against us. Should call for an exciting Friday night."

Veteran WR George Murray (eight catches 132 yards and one TD) was named the Venom player of the game for his efforts. WR Zach Ducker also had a great game scoring his team's first two touchdowns of the season. QB Charles McCullum was the victim of four dropped passes but still threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns. 2014 All-PIFL DB Corry Stewart led his team in tackles with 7.5 and he had an interception.

In their opening game, the Lehigh Valley's offense had a solid performance defeating the Erie Explosion 50-43. QB Shane McSweeny contributed on six touchdowns, throwing for three and running for another three with all three passes going to WR Brandon Renford (10 catches for 123 yards).

Lehigh Valley's defense stepped up late against Erie forcing three turnovers in the last ninety seconds to secure the win. DL Larry Ford (four tackles and two sacks) was named PIFL Defensive Player of the Week. Kamara contributed four tackles, two sacks and two fumble recoveries.

The game will be College Spirit Night. All students with a college ID will get in for $4. For more information you can call 800-745-3000 for all single game tickets.
