Amarillo, TX 5/28/10- The Amarillo Venom will have the opportunity to gain bragging rights with a West Texas win Saturday when they enter hostile territory May 29th 7pm CST against the Abilene Ruff Riders at the Taylor County Expo Center.
Amarillo (9-1) handled Arkansas last week 35-20 remaining the team to beat this season. Defensive lineman Brandon Jenkins amplified the Venom defense with three sacks (five total) against Arkansas bringing the team total to 15 total sacks this season. Running back Dontrell Moore led Amarillo's offense with two receiving touchdowns (14 total) for 33 yards. Defensive back Darrius Battles added another interception with the Venom still leading the IFL in interceptions with 21.
Abilene (2-9) will play their third of three straight home games and are 2-6 at home. The Ruff Riders Corey White (ex Duster) shined on receiving in the previous meeting with the Venom, with three touchdowns for 112 yards. This rivalry between the two teams is boiling up and is sure to provide a high-quality football game with an eager to know outcome.
