Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX 3/2/11 - The Amarillo Venom signed Tommy Crowley this week in hopes of strengthening their offensive line. Crowley is no stranger to the Texas Panhandle as he played for West Texas A&M from 2006-2008. Crowley was a two-year starter and received all-Conference honors as a senior.
"Tommy is really going to solidify our offensive line," said Joe Morgado, the General Manager of the Amarillo Venom. "He was a good player in college at West Texas A&M and he will really help us up front."
Crowley will be joining several familiar faces as he played with current Venom Defensive Back Cashmin Thomas, Wide Receiver Anthony Clark, and Offensive Lineman Willie Barton at West Texas A&M. A phone call from Barton was actually a big part of the reason Crowley decided to join the Venom. Crowley said playing with Barton at West Texas A&M will help them "gel" quicker with the Venom.
"Just to have a teammate that you are familiar with is beneficial," said Crowley. "He already knows how I play and I know how he plays so it is a good situation."
Crowley's first game action will be March 13th as the Venom head to Oklahoma City to take on the Bricktown Brawlers. The Venom's first regular season home game is March 18th as they host the Wyoming Calvary. Season tickets can still be purchased through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
