Nashville Venom News Release

Nashville-When you make it to the top of any profession it becomes easy to be complacent and not worry about improving yourself or your team. This offseason, the Nashville Venom and their General Manager/Head Coach Billy Back has disobeyed that theory. The team re-signed key players from the championship team like QB Charles McCullum, WR Jordan Jolly, and Walter Thomas. They have added five more players in; WR D.A. Allen, QB Sam Durley, DL Clinton Barley ATH Mon Williams and OL Javon Ross.

"We approached our offseason as if we didn't win it all," said Back. "Believe it or not our team had some holes to fill. I can't wait to camp to watch all of these guys compete. D.A. adds to an already solid receiver corp. We are looking for great things out of him. Mon will be a guy we play at multiple positions. His NFL background will help tremendously in the locker room. Sam will make our QB position more competitive. That will be interesting to watch. Clinton is a defensive force that will fit right in with our guys on that side of the ball. Javon will make our offensive line better. He is a born leader and you can't have too many of those type of guys on your team. We will have more depth this season. Heck, some our practices might be just as good as the games."

Williams is no stranger to Back. The former Seattle Seahawk played for him for in Texas. He also knows his way around Nashville some from his college days playing against conference rival Tennessee State University for Eastern Illinois. Williams started his colligate career with the University of Florida Gators where he won a National Championship alongside Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

Durley played at Eureka Collage where he played in 39 games and started 29 of those games. He holds records at Eureka for pass completions 579, pass attempts 1,141, passing yards 8,162 and passing touchdowns 61. He also holds the NCAA single - game record for most passing yards in a 736.

Barley's team the Georgia Fire was the only team to defeat the Venom last season. Recent Venom signee Jeremy Buchanan was a teammate of his last season. He along with Ross brings added beef and toughness an already impressive line on both sides of the ball.

Allen, a teammate of Durley with the Wyoming Calvary of the Indoor Football League, last played for his hometown team the New Orleans Voodoo of the AFL1. The 6'2 receiver played collegiately at Southwest Baptist (MO.) University. Allen is more than excited for his opportunity in the Music City.

"Sam and I work well together. When I heard he was coming to Nashville I got excited," said Allen. I have heard some great things about that organization. When Coach Back called to talk to me I was ready to move right then. He told me that last year is over and he wants to keep winning. I like an attitude like that."
