TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats welcomed 2,611 friends to Irish Night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium to kick off the biggest homestand of the season, even though they dropped a 12-0 game to Quebec.
The ValleyCats teamed up with their fans and Troy's Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Division 8 - James Connolly, to collect hundreds of pounds of non-perishable food for those in need and thousands of dollars to support future philanthropy through a specialty jersey auction.
Newly acquired infielder TJ Williams made his professional debut for the ValleyCats (28-45) and was part of a 6-4-3 double play in the ninth.
Masatoshi Sakurai threw eight innings of shutout ball in the start for Quebec (48-24) as he allowed four hits and struck out three.
Tri-City's second bobblehead giveaway of 2026 is scheduled for August 5 on Hot Dog Appreciation Night as Ketchup joins his friends Mustard and Relish to finish off the three-character set that the ValleyCats have been building over the past few years. Season ticket holders, select mini-plan holders, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance can get the commemorative keepsake when gates open at 5:30 p.m. for first pitch at 6:30 p.m.
