Utah Royals FC News Release
Sandy, Utah - Utah Royals FC announced today that it has become a member of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) with the inception of Utah Royals FC Reserves set to begin play in 2019. Utah Royals FC Reserves will play under Utah Royals FC as a developmental team. The WPSL is a league designed for amateur players from collegiate, post-collegiate, and international female athletes.
Utah Royals FC Reserves will aim to serve as an opportunity for drafted players to receive exposure and continued development across the game at a high level. The Reserves will also be used as a training environment to scout possible future draftees and be used as a rehabilitation assignment destination for injured Utah Royals FC players. In addition, female coaches within the organization will have the opportunity to enhance coaching skills and gain valuable experience.
The lead executives for the expansion team include URFC Owner Dell Loy Hansen, and Managing Director of Utah Royals FC, Stephanie Lee. All lead soccer operation executives and team roster will be released in the near future.
"We are extremely excited to enter the WPSL," Lee expressed. "The WPSL provides another level of developmental opportunities for players, so we know it's the right step for Utah Royals FC to continue our efforts of growth in the women's game."
With the inception of URFC Reserves, the RSL Women will no longer be in operation, paving the way for yet another exciting professional women's soccer contingent in Utah. The RSL Women created an opportunity for female players between the collegiate and professional level to gain further experience when it began play in 2015. The RSL Women was established in 2015 and upon arrival, accomplished the 2015 WPSL Elite National Championship title in its very first year.
The Utah Royals FC Reserves schedule and ticket information will be announced at a future date. Fans can utilize UtahRoyalsFC.com and social platforms, to stay up to date with the Utah Royals FC Reserves team.
