Utah Royals FC Heads East to Take on Chicago Red Stars in Final Road Match of 2019

SANDY, Utah - Utah Royals FC (9-9-4, 31 points) returns to SeatGeek Stadium to take on the Chicago Red Stars for the third and final time this season on Saturday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT. The match will serve as the second-to-last for Utah in 2019 and the final game for Chicago as they look to qualify for a home semifinal match in the 2019 postseason.

In its last match, Utah Royals FC fell 2-1 at Cheney Stadium to Reign FC, forcing Royals FC out of its playoff position, but with postseason hopes still very much alive in its final two matches. FW Katie Stengel scored the lone goal for Utah, assisted by MF Vero Boquete, her fifth of the season.

Friday's match will mark the third and final time URFC and Chicago Red Stars have faced one another during the 2019 regular season. Thus far, Utah has split points with Chicago, with each team securing a win. The match has major playoff implications for both teams, as Utah will need a victory to keep them in the mix for the league's fourth and final playoff position and Chicago need a victory to secure a home match during the semifinals.

URFC enters Saturday's match with a 2-3-0 all-time record against the Red Stars. Most recently, URFC fell 2-0 on the road to the Red Stars on August 3, courtesy of goals from league-leading scorer Sam Kerr and former Utah Royals FC defender Brooke Elby.
