Utah Royals FC News Release
SANDY, UTAH - Utah Royals FC FW Christen Press has been selected as the National Women's Soccer League Player of the Week for the 17th week of the 2019 season.
Press has previously received this honor on two separate occasions, once during the 2015 season and then again during the 2017 season. Her selection is the first in club history for a member of Utah Royals FC.
The forward's dominance during Royals FC's 3-0 victory over Sky Blue FC this past Wednesday aided in her receiving of this award. Press scored two first-half goals in two minutes to give URFC a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the second half of the match. Utah would go on to score another goal, while Press would contribute 11 more shots on the night.
On Saturday Press played a vital role in the club's first-ever win over Reign FC, defeating their opponent by a score of 3-1. Press proved to be aggressive in the attack, totaling five shots.
The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
