Published on April 15, 2010 under NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, April 15, 2009 - Utah Flash guard Andre Ingram won the 2009-10 Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award, as voted on by the 16 NBA Development League head coaches, it was announced today. The award honors the player who best represents the ideals of character and conduct on and off the court.

"Andre has been with the team for the last three years, and he has been a great leader both in the community and on the court," said Flash head coach Brad Jones. "With his three-point competition win at NBA D-League All-Star in February in Dallas and this impressive honor, Andre has solidified his place in this league as a great person and a great basketball player."

In addition to being recognized for his sportsmanship, Ingram made noteworthy contributions on the court, starting 49 of the team's 50 games, and averaging 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals in 34.0 minutes. He scored in double figures 36 times, including a season-high 24 points in a 104-99 road victory over the Bakersfield Jam on Dec. 5, 2009. Ingram also participated in 2010 NBA D-League All-Star festivities in Dallas in February, taking home the Three Point Shooting Competition Championship at the NBA D-League's Dream Factory Friday Night skills competition.

Ingram helped the Flash to a 28-22 record and a postseason berth. The Flash was defeated in three games by the Iowa Energy in the first round of the playoffs last week.

"In his third year with the Flash, Andre continued to display the highest level of respect for the game, his teammates, the referees and his opponents while becoming an enthusiastic and active member of the community in Utah," said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. "I congratulate Andre on another successful season on the court and for his tremendous efforts as an ambassador of our game."

The name of the Sportsmanship Award was changed in 2006 to honor former NBA D-League, Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks center Jason Collier, who passed away suddenly on October 15, 2005. Collier was a First Team 2003-04 All-NBA D-League selection as a member of the Fayetteville Patriots, but more importantly, a player and person who exemplified the qualities of a faithful teammate, husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was ready to begin his sixth NBA season at the time of his death.

Ingram joins Will Conroy (Albuquerque, 2009), Billy Thomas (Colorado, 2008), Roger Powell (Arkansas, 2007) and current Sacramento Kings forward Ime Udoka (Fort Worth, 2006), as recipients of the award since it was renamed in Collier's honor.
