BOSTON CELTICS SIGN FORT WAYNE'S OLIVER LAFAYETTE
The Boston Celtics signed guard Oliver Lafayette of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, making him the record 40th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Lafayette joins 85 current NBA players with NBA D-League experience. Lafayette appeared in 48 games, 42 starts, for Fort Wayne during the 2009-10 NBA D-League regular season, averaging 17.1 points, 6.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 35.3 minutes. He scored in double figures 40 times, recording seven double-doubles. He scored a season-high 34 points in a 108-99 victory over the Maine Red Claws on March 16 in Fort Wayne, and dished out a season-high 14 assists in a 140-137 road loss to the Iowa Energy on Dec. 29, 2009 in Des Moines.
MULLENS AND SHAKUR RECALLED FROM TULSA 66ERS
Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced that the team has recalled Byron Mullens and Mustafa Shakur from the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League. Mullens and Shakur are being recalled after helping lead the 66ers past the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the first round of the NBA Development League playoffs. During the 2-1 series win over the Skyforce, Mullens averaged 14.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.0 block in 25.7 minutes per game. Mullens has appeared in 12 games for the Thunder this year and averaged 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds in 4.4 minutes per contest. Shakur, who was signed by the Thunder on March 31st, averaged 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the recent 66ers three-game playoff series win. Shakur is yet to appear in a game for the Thunder this season.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at NBA D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:
50 players with NBA D-League experience competed in 14 NBA games last night, 17 as starters.
In a Los Angeles match-up between the Lakers and Clippers, Steve Blake started for the Clippers and notched a triple-double with a game-high 23 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Shannon Brown, starting for the Lakers, finished with 18 points and five rebounds.
As starters for New York, Bill Walker and Earl Barron both finished in double digit scoring and chipped in seven rebounds apiece. Walker notched a game-high 28 points and Barron added 11.
Washington's Andray Blatche recorded a team-high 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as a starter. Shaun Livingston, also a starter, added 10 points and seven assists, while Cartier Martin chipped in 11 point sand five rebounds off the bench.
Anthony Tolliver scored a double-double, as a starter for Golden State, with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Reggie Williams, also a starter, added 11.
Starting for Toronto, Amir Johnson finished with 21 points and five rebounds. Sonny Weems, also a starter, scored 18 points and five rebounds.
Ramon Sessions tallied 14 points and dished five assists as a starter for the Timberwolves.
Oliver Lafayette signed with the Boston Celtics yesterday and saw his first NBA action of his career last night in Boston against the Milwaukee Bucks. He saw 21 minutes of action, scored seven points, pulled down four rebounds, and had two assists.
