USPV, Marvel Comics Join Forces

OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL., OCTOBER 2, 2002_ United States Professional Volleyball (USPV) and comic book giant Marvel Enterprises have joined forces on a specially produced action poster.

The poster, entitled "Marvels of the Volleyball World", will feature the Superheroes of Marvel and the stars of USPV together on the volleyball court.

The poster, produced by Marvel Enterprises, will be unveiled at the 13th annual Promo Expo event October 8-9 at Navy Pier in Chicago.

USPV stars Wiz Bachman (Minnesota Chill), Kelly Kennedy (Chicago Thunder), Kristee Porter (Chicago Thunder), Betsy Spicer (Grand Rapids Force), 2002 USPV MVP Benishe Roberts (St. Louis Quest) and Michelle Quon (Chicago Thunder) are all featured in the poster along with such Superheroes of Marvel as Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, The Thing, Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman.

Also at Promo Expo on Tuesday, the "USPV All-Stars", led by original USPV members Kennedy, Cindy DeMartino (Chicago Thunder) and Jenny Manz (St. Louis Quest), will play a pair of friendly exhibitions against the "Promo All-Stars", a team of agency and brand-marketing executives. USPV athletes will also sign free autographs throughout the day at the USPV booth.

Promo Expo, hosted by PROMO Magazine, is a promotional conference and exposition that gathers leaders in the promotion industry who attend PROMO Expo for the latest, most effective brand-building ideas and promotion marketing strategies. The event features seminars, exhibits, workshops and other interactive exchanges. Over 3,000 attendees are expected.

USPV, the premier women's professional indoor volleyball league, begins its second season in January, 2003 with an expanded, weekend-weighted schedule featuring the best women's volleyball athletes in the world.
