USL Discipline Report: Week 23
August 31, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL) News Release
TAMPA, Fla. - The following is the USL's discipline report for Week 23 of the 2016 season:
Fifteen players, a head coach and assistant coach have been suspended and fined an undisclosed amount for their actions this past week.
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds' Danny Earls will serve an eight-game suspension for his physical altercation with a referee after he was sent off during the 74th minute of Pittsburgh's match against the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday. He was suspended for three matches for the initial challenge on the Harrisburg player, and then the USL Disciplinary Committee added five games for the altercation with the referee. Earls' suspension will cover the remaining five regular-season games and the first three games of the 2017 USL season. Because the Riverhounds still are mathematically in the hunt for the postseason, if they should qualify, Earls will begin serving his additional three matches during the 2016 USL Playoffs.
Following a stoppage-time melee that occurred toward the conclusion of the 401 Derby between Toronto FC II and FC Montreal on Sunday, three players were issued multi-game suspensions. FC Montreal's Marco Dominguez is suspended for the club's final five regular-season games of the season and Toronto FC II's Mitch Taintor is suspended for five games - the final three regular-season games and the first two matches of the 2017 USL season. Should TFCII clinch a spot in the USL Playoffs, Taintor would begin serving those final two games. TFCII's Bubacarr Jobe, who was not sent off from the match, is suspended for his team's remaining three regular-season matches for his involvement during the scuffle.
The following four players were sent off during their respective Week 23 games and will serve one-game suspensions this week: Arizona United SC's Christian Silva (out Wednesday against the LA Galaxy II), the New York Red Bulls II's Noah Powder (out Sunday against Bethlehem Steel FC) and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC teammates Miguel Gonzalez and Josh Phillips (both out Saturday against the LA Galaxy II). Gonzalez and Phillips had both picked up two cautions during last week's match against Rio Grande Valley FC.
FC Cincinnati's Mitch Hildebrandt, who was sent off during Sunday's match against NYRBII, has been declared eligible to play for Wednesday's match against the Charlotte Independence as his red card has been rescinded.
Six players picked up their fifth cautions of the season and will serve one-game suspensions for yellow card accumulation: FC Cincinnati's Pat McMahon (out Wednesday against Charlotte), the LA Galaxy II's Oscar Sorto (out Wednesday against Arizona), Louisville City FC's Paolo DelPiccolo (out Saturday against FC Montreal), Saint Louis FC's Sam Fink (out Wednesday against OKC Energy FC), San Antonio FC's Rafael Castillo (out Wednesday against the Swope Park Rangers) and Wilmington Hammerheads FC's Bruno Perone (out Wednesday against Montreal).

Real Monarchs SLC assistant coach David Lara also was dismissed during last Saturday's road match against Arizona and will not be on the bench this Saturday against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
