USHL Notes ....
-- The Tri-City Storm implemented a microphone system, first time in league history, by having referee Morrison wear a microphone during Saturday's game between the Storm and the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
-- Sioux City Musketeers made a move in the standings last week from fourth place into a two-way tie for first place, gaining six points with three victories over Lincoln, Tri-City and Des Moines.
-- RoughRiders alumni goaltender Joe Fallon, now a freshman at the University of Vermont, was named the ECAC goaltender of the week and USCHO/ITECH National Defensive Player of the Week.
-- Todd McIlrath has extended his point streak to nine games on the season by tallying a point in both of the Ice's games last weekend.
-- There will be a battle for first place in the East Division on Tuesday Nov. 9th, as the Indiana Ice will hold as hosts to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, both teams have 15 points.
-- Sioux City Coach, Dave Siciliano, registered his 400th USHL win on Saturday.
LPH/ USHL Offensive Player of the Week
Kent Bostrom - Sioux City Musketeers
Bostrom (Vadnais Hts, MN), who helped propel the Musketeers to three wins and a share of the lead in the East Division, received top honors this week for Offensive Player of the Week. Bostrom accumulated four points (2g,2a) over the weekend, assisting on the game tying goal and scoring the first tally for the Musketeers against Des Moines. The assist came with 3:04 to play, and helped sealed a tie for first place.
LPH/ USHL Defensive Player of the Week
Brett Motherwell -Omaha Lancers
Motherwell (St. Charles, IL), earned top honors for Defensive Player of the Week, playing well in both ends of the ice. Helping the Lancers remain in first place, with a +2 plus/minus rating and three assists in two games, he contributed on the game winning and insurance goals against Cedar Rapids on Friday night. He then continued to contribute to the scoring assisting on the first goal of the game Saturday, getting Omaha on the board first.
