• Phoenix Coyotes firstround draft pick Blake Wheeler scored his 1st & 2nd USHL goals on Saturday night as the Green Bay Gamblers beat Sioux City, 6-4. Wheeler also added an assist in the contest.

• A stellar crowd in excess of 6,000 left Indianapolis' Pepsi Coliseum happy on Saturday night at the Ice toppled the defending Tier I national champs from Waterloo, 4-2.

• Sioux Falls is in the midst of just its fourth winning streak of two games or more since the start of the 2003-04 season after backto- back triumphs over Indiana and Lincoln. Tom Gorowsky is leading the way for Sioux Falls with four points (2G, 2A) in three games thus far.

• Indiana's Travis Winter is in the midst of a four-game goal-scoring streak. He has four goals over that span.

• Omaha rolls on after a weekend victory over Des Moines in overtime. The Lancers currently lead the USHL in goals (23), assists (37), points (60) and powerplay goals (10).

• Cedar Rapids is the only USHL team yet to suffer a regulation loss in 2004.

• Both Cedar Rapids and Sioux Falls are perfect on the penalty kill thus far in 2004. The RoughRiders have killed all 11 man disadvantages they have faced, while the Stampede is 16-for-16.

LPH/USHL Offensive Player of the Week:

Matt Greer -- DES MOINES BUCCANEERS

GREER (VADNAIS HEIGHTS, MN), THE BUC' S GOT exactly what they needed Friday night earning their first win of the year with a 7- 1 victory over Green Bay. Matt earned offensive player of the week by contributing to the win with his first ever USHL hat trick. Over the weekend Matt compiled 3 goals and 1 assist with a +4 plus/minus.

LPH/USHL Defensive Player of the Week:

Greg Barrett - Sioux Falls Stampede

Barrett (Troy, MI),had a vital role in the Stampede's shootout win against Lincoln to give them their second win of the new season. During 65 minutes of play, Barrett stopped 33 of 35 shots. But what eventually earned the overtime win was Barrett's back-stop effort to turn away 7 out of 9 shooters in the shootout win.
