Players of the Week: Jayden Perron (Chicago/USHL Forward of the Week) had a league-best nine points on a goal and eight assists in three games played last week. The Winnipeg, Man., native scored the game-winning goal and had three assists for a four-point night in a 6-4 win over Madison last Sunday. The North Dakota commit ranks third on USHL scoring charts with 20-39- 59 in 49 games played on the season.

Sam Rinzel (Waterloo/USHL Defenseman of the Week) had a three-point week with two goals and an assist, was +1 and registered five shots on goal over the course of two games. A native of Chanhassen, Minn., and a University of Minnesota commit, Rinzel has 8-21--29 in 42 games played this year. He was selected in the first round (25th overall) by Chicago in the 2022 NHL Draft.

Trey Augustine (NTDP/USHL Goaltender of the Week) went 2-0-0 with a 2.50 GAA and .921 sv% in two games last week. The Michigan State commit had 31 saves in a 6-3 win at Green Bay last Friday and posted 27 saves in a 3-2 win over the Gamblers Saturday. The South Lyon, Mich., native stands 7-0-0-2 on the season, with a 2.23 goals against average, .937 save percentage.

Robertson Will Not Seek New Contract: USHL President and Commissioner Bill Robertson has informed the USHL Board of Directors that he will not seek renewal of his two-year employment contract when it expires on June 30, 2023.

2023 Clark Cup Playoff Format & Dates Announced: The USHL has announced the format and dates for the 2022-23 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs. This season's playoffs (featuring the top six teams from each of the Eastern and Western Conferences) is slated to begin April 24. Conference semifinals (best of three series) run April 28 - April 30, conference finals (best of five series) are May 5-11 and the Clark Cup Final (best of five series) takes place May 13-23.

First In: Fargo, which has eight wins and a pair of overtime losses in its last 10 games and owns a league-best 71 points on its 33-8-2-3 overall mark, is the first team in the league to clinch a spot in the USHL playoffs. Waterloo ranks second behind Fargo in the Western Conference with a 30-15-1-0 mark and 61 points.

Chicago (31-14-3-1), which has gone 7-2-1-0 in its last 10 games, has 66 points in ranking as the top Eastern Conference squad. The USA National Team Development Program (27-14-1-2) has gone 7-3-0-0 in its last 10 games and has moved in to tie with Youngstown (26-15-4-1) for second in the Eastern Conference with both teams at 57 points.

Mack Truck: Chicago Steel forward Macklin Celebrini, who leads the USHL in scoring with 71 points on 40 goals and 31 assists, has established a league record for points by a U17 player. Taylor Cammarata, who had 69 points while playing for Waterloo in 2011-2012, held the previous mark.

It's Good to Have Goals: Tri-City forward Trevor Connelly has scored at least one goal in seven straight games heading into this week's action. Connelly, a Tustin, Calif., native, has nine goals during the streak in raising his season totals to 15-12--27 in 41 games played.

Noteables: Dubuque owns a 17-0-0-0 mark when leading after two periods of play this year and stand 14-0-0-0 when leading after one period of action. Fargo is 22-4-1-2 when outshooting opponents on the season.

Legal Defense: Cedar Rapids defenseman Eric Pohlkamp leads league blueliners in points (39), power play goals (8), power play points (21) and shots on goal (124). The Bemidji State commit ranks second in goals (14) and stands fourth in assists (25).

Pad Scientist: Lincoln's Cameron Whitehead leads the USHL in games played (34), minutes (1935), saves (867) and he's tied for third in the league with three shutouts. A 2022 fourth-round NHL draft pick of the Vegas Golden Knights, Whitehead is a Northeastern commit.

USHL NHL Alumni Spotlight: A defenseman for the Chicago Steel from 2010-13, Jaccob Slavin was the 2020-21 Lady Byng Award recipient as the NHL's most gentlemanly player. A fourth-round selection (120th overall) by Carolina in 2012, Slavin played two seasons at Colorado College before making his NHL debut in 2015-16. In 563 games with the Hurricanes, the Erie, Colo., native has registered 40-187--287 in eight NHL seasons.

USHL College Commitments 2022-23: A total of 354 current USHL players have committed to play NCAA Division I college hockey. 50 schools are represented amongst the 354 commitments including 92 players headed to Hockey East teams, 86 players to the National Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHC), 77 players to Big 10 programs, 57 players to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC), 32 players to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), six players to Atlantic Hockey (AHA) teams and four players to independent programs.
