San Jose Earthquakes News Release
BOULDER, Colo. - USA Rugby officially announced its Men's and Women's National Teams' domestic spring and summer match schedule, revealing its busiest season yet for the USA Eagles. On May 31, the USA Men's National Team will face Ireland in San Jose, Calif. The Eagles will kick off their domestic season against the Irish National Team at Buck Shaw Stadium.
Tickets for the match are on sale now, starting as low as $20. For more information or to purchase tickets, log on to tickets.com or call 800-225-2277. Group discounts are also available by calling the San Jose Earthquakes front office at 408-556-7700.
"One of our goals was to increase the number of international opponents in order to make our National Teams more competitive," USA Rugby's CEO and President of Rugby, Nigel Melville said. "This schedule is a very good step forward in many respects. We are playing stiff competition against top international sides, which is really the only way to gauge our development. And with the increased amount of matches across the U.S., as well as the number of games being broadcast, this is a great opportunity for fans to get behind the Eagles and create some momentum."
Then on June 6, the Eagles are set to play Wales at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill. The two teams will get underway at 1:30 p.m. and tickets are already on sale via www.ticketmaster.com/rugby. USA Rugby will be hosting its Annual Coaching Conference around this event with keynote speaker Kevin Bowring, of the RFU. Make sure to get the most recent information regarding this conference at www.usarugby.org/goto/coaches.
Also commencing on June 6 and running through June 21, is the 2009 Churchill Cup. The location of this event has yet to be determined, but will most likely be finalized by late next week. Keep checking www.churchillcup.com for more information.
Finally, the USA Men's National Team will take on Canada on Saturday, July 4 at 5 p.m. at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C., in what will mark the first of two IRB Rugby World Cup Qualifier matches. Tickets to this match will be available at www.tickets.com on April 2.
