
United Sign Defender Akeem Ward

D.C. United have signed Creighton University defender Akeem Ward after selecting him with the 14th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
"We are excited to have concluded a deal to get Akeem, under contract," Dave Kasper, United General Manager and VP of Soccer Operations. "He will provide important depth at both outside back positions this season, and we look forward to his bright future with our club."
Ward spent three years at Creighton University after transferring from Hastings College his freshman year. In his first season at Hastings University, Ward scored two goals and recorded five assists on the way to becoming a 2015 USC Second team NAIA All-American.
At Creighton University, Ward scored two goals and recorded six assists in 47 appearances with the Bluejays. In 2018, the versatile defender earned a USC First Team All-East Region selection and was First Team All-Big East Conference after scoring two goals and recording four assists.
